Summary
A landmark of accessible high-rise living. Located at the busy intersection of Osmeña Boulevard and Sanciangko, GV Tower serves as a central hub for budget travelers, students, and family groups. The defining feature is the view — because it towers over the low-slung colonial buildings of the old city, even standard rooms offer sweeping vistas of the Mactan Channel and the mountain ranges.

Overview
The cheapest way to get a top-floor city view in Cebu. With 158 rooms it is one of the few budget hotels capable of handling large student groups or sports teams (up to 10 pax per family room). Industrial-grade generator backup keeps elevators and AC running during brownouts.
From Pension House to Provincial Landmark
GV Hotels began in 1999 as GV Pension House, a 20-room property in Maasin City, Leyte, built for traveling sales agents who needed clean, secure, affordable rooms rather than anything more. The formula — no-frills rooms, competitive rates, reliable basics — scaled quickly across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, and by 2004 the company was confident enough in that model to start construction on GV Tower, its flagship property and head office, in downtown Cebu City. When it opened, GV Tower was the tallest building in downtown Cebu, a genuinely notable civic landmark for a budget hotel chain rather than a luxury developer to have built. The group now operates roughly two dozen properties across the Visayas and Mindanao, and GV Tower remains the brand’s most visible statement of intent: budget hospitality delivered at a scale and height that once belonged only to premium developers.
Location
- District: Downtown / Kamagayan, Cebu City
- Landmarks: Colon Street (2 min walk); Magellan’s Cross / Basilica (10 min walk); South Bus Terminal (5 min walk); Cebu Pier 1 (10 min drive)
- Walkability: Excellent for old-city exploration
Colon Street, two minutes away, is the oldest street in the Philippines, laid out under Spanish colonial administration and named for Christopher Columbus. It has cycled through several identities since — cinema row in the mid-20th century, then a faded commercial strip — and today functions as a working shopping district rather than a preserved heritage attraction, which is closer to how most Cebuanos actually experience it than any polished tourist framing would suggest. Carbon Market, the city’s oldest and largest public market, sits within the same walking radius, along with the Taboan dried-fish lane a short ride further on.
