Cebu Nature Park sits within the forested part of the island’s central mountain range, the same upland belt that functions as Metro Cebu’s principal watershed. Like most of Cebu’s remaining upland tree cover, this stretch is largely second-growth — decades of reforestation, heavy on mahogany, rather than the original dipterocarp forest logged out over the last century. The trail network crosses several streams, and the canopy is thick enough in places to drop the temperature noticeably below what you left at the trailhead.

  • Trails are well-marked and graded for both casual walkers and dedicated hikers, with enough variation to plan a short loop or a half-day trek.
  • The mixed canopy supports enough resident and migratory bird activity to make an early start worth it for anyone bringing binoculars.
  • Wear real hiking shoes and carry more water than you think you need — the terrain gets steep near the upper viewpoints, and shade thins out toward the ridge.
