Kota Beach is Bantayan Island’s best-known stretch of sand, built around a sandbar that appears and narrows with the tide — walkable at low water, mostly submerged at high. The sand runs pale and fine, the water shallow enough near shore for a long wade before it drops off.
- Time a visit around low tide to walk the sandbar; check tide tables rather than guessing.
- Palm cover along the tree line gives shade without needing to rent anything.
- Sunset here runs long and orange over open water, with nothing blocking the horizon.
Bantayan’s other export is craft, not scenery: the island has a long tradition of santos carving — wooden religious images carved and painted locally, most visible during Holy Week, when the island’s Semana Santa observances draw visitors of their own.
