Danasan Giant Swing

The Danasan Giant Swing — officially the Skydrop — is the signature extreme-thrill attraction at Danasan Eco Adventure Park in the highlands of Danao City. Mechanically it’s a large pendulum: riders are harnessed into a gondola, winched up on a cable, then released to free-fall before the cable arrests the drop and converts it into a wide swinging arc. That transition — vertical drop into lateral swing — is what makes a pendulum ride read as more intense than a straight drop tower of the same height.

Riders reach roughly 120 to 130 feet (about 35 to 40 meters) before release, high enough for a brief look over the surrounding forested terrain during the slow ascent. The free-fall itself is short; the pendulum swing that follows is the longer part of the ride, carrying riders back and forth above the tree canopy before the arc settles.

Danao City’s hillsides have a livelihood history that predates adventure tourism — the area has long been known regionally for informal small-arms manufacturing — and attractions like the Skydrop represent a newer, tourism-based income stream layered onto the same terrain. Within the park, it’s the ride most visitors build their day around.
