The San Guillermo de Aquitania Parish Church, known locally as Dalaguete Church, is one of a cluster of 18th- and 19th-century coral-stone churches along Cebu’s southeastern coast — the same building tradition behind the parish churches in nearby Boljoon, Argao, and Carcar. The coral block was quarried locally and cut by hand, which is part of why these churches share a similar weight and texture despite being built decades apart. The facade faces the sea, and the interior retains altars and painted work old enough to have survived several restorations. Dalaguete’s uplands, just inland from the church, are known regionally as one of Cebu’s main vegetable-growing areas — the town’s other identity beyond the parish.

  • Look at the facade stonework up close — the coral-block coursing is still legible under later plaster repairs in places, more informative than any signage on site.
  • The adjacent museum covers the parish’s history in more depth than the church interior does on a walk-through.
  • Check mass schedules before visiting so you’re not walking through an active service.
