Cancalanog Falls sits in the hills above Alegria, in the same karst stretch of southwest Cebu that produces Cambais, Aguinid and, a short drive south, the better-known Kawasan. The pool holds an unusually clear turquoise color for a freshwater pool — a result of the mineral content in the limestone the water passes through, the same geology behind the color at several of the province’s other falls. Cliff faces around the pool split visitors into two groups: swimmers, and the smaller group willing to jump into deep water.

  • The pool’s clarity makes it easy to see the underwater rock formations from the surface.
  • Cliff jumping happens here, but check depth and current with a local guide before you commit to a ledge.
  • Alegria sees far less falls traffic than Kawasan or Aguinid, so weekday visits often mean the pool to yourself.
