Pescador Cathedral Dive Site

Guide to Pescador Cathedral Dive Site in Cebu, Philippines.

The Cathedral is a swim-through cavern on the wall of Pescador Island, off Panagsama Beach in Moalboal — the same limestone islet whose reef drops from a shallow plateau near 5 metres to roughly 60 metres. Sunlight cuts through openings in the cave roof in shafts, which is where the name comes from; a midday visit gets the clearest light through the gaps. Pescador has been a declared marine sanctuary since 1990, and the wall and cave both fall under that protection — no touching coral, no anchoring.

  • The cave sits along the standard Pescador wall-dive route rather than as a separate entry point — plan it into a normal wall dive here.
  • Moalboal’s resident sardine run is a shoreline phenomenon near Panagsama, not something inside the cave itself; many operators combine both in one trip.
  • Reef sharks and turtles are reported along the outer wall more often than inside the cavern — keep an eye on open water on the swim back.
