Molave Milk Station

Molave Milk Station is a roadside stop built around one product: fresh carabao’s milk, sold here as ice cream, pastillas, and cold drinks rather than the UHT cartons found in supermarkets. Carabao milk runs higher in fat and protein than cow’s milk, which is what gives the ice cream its dense, custard-like texture instead of the airier result standard dairy produces. Small-scale carabao dairying like this has grown around Cebu’s southern towns partly through the Philippine Carabao Center’s livelihood programs, which supply breeding stock and training to farming families who then sell direct to stops like this one.
