Cancua-ay Beach

Guide to Cancua-ay Beach in Cebu, Philippines.

Type: beachEntrance fee: FreeHours: Open dailyBest time: Morning or Late Afternoon

Cancua-ay Beach sits along Oslob’s coastline, on the stretch of the Tañon Strait that separates Cebu from Negros — a channel declared a protected seascape for its whale and dolphin populations, part of why development along this coast has stayed lighter than on Cebu’s more built-up beach towns. The beach itself is undeveloped: no resort row, no beach bars, just cliffs, rock and a shoreline that takes some walking to reach. That lack of infrastructure is the appeal for visitors who want a beach without a beach club attached — and the tradeoff for getting it.

  • Bring your own snorkeling gear — the rocky outcrops nearby hold more marine life than the open sand does.
  • Pack water, food and sun protection; there are no facilities or vendors on site.
  • Go for the isolation, not for amenities — this is a swim-and-leave stop, not a day resort.
