Balidbid Lagoon sits on Bantayan Island, better known nationally for its Holy Week processions and a long-running tradition of religious santo carving than for its coastline — but the island holds a few limestone-walled pools tucked away from its main beaches, and this is one of them. The lagoon is enclosed enough that the water stays calm regardless of what the open sea is doing outside the rock walls.
- Calm, enclosed water protected by the surrounding limestone walls — swimmable even when conditions outside are rougher.
- A kayak or paddleboard works well for exploring the inner reaches past where most swimmers stop.
- Midmorning sun angles hit the water directly, which is when the turquoise color is most visible.
