Santiago Bay curves along the eastern coast of San Francisco, one of the municipalities in the Camotes Islands, about two hours by ferry from Danao City on the Cebu mainland. At low tide a wide sandbar surfaces well beyond the waterline, turning the bay into a walkable stretch of white sand and shallow turquoise water. It draws day-trippers and overnighters in near-equal numbers, with enough seaside restaurants and cottage operators along the shore to support both.
- Walk the sandbar at low tide, when it widens into one of the more photogenic stretches in the Camotes group.
- Rent a kayak, skimboard, or a spot on the beach volleyball court from one of the shorefront operators.
- Eat where the boats come in: seaside eateries along the bay serve fresh catch simply grilled, with rice and vinegar on the side.
