Little Batanes of Cebu

Guide to Little Batanes of Cebu in Cebu, Philippines.

Type: sightEntrance fee: FreeHours: Open dailyBest time: Morning or Late Afternoon

This viewpoint sits above the coastal town of Tabogon on Cebu’s northern mainland, where grazed hillsides roll down toward the sea in a way that’s earned it the local comparison to Batanes — the rolling, wind-cropped grasslands the northernmost Philippine islands are known for. The resemblance holds mostly in silhouette: green slopes, open sky, water on the horizon. Like much of the northern coastal strip, the land here is still worked — grazing and small-scale farming rather than set aside as parkland — so the hills stay open and low, which is exactly what makes the view work.

  • Go in the early morning for soft light and the clearest visibility across the strait.
  • The slopes are grazing land, not a maintained park — watch your footing and mind any livestock.
  • Traffic here is light. It’s a good stop to build into a longer North Cebu coastal drive rather than a dedicated day trip.
