Colase Marine Sanctuary is one of the better-kept protected reefs on Cebu’s south coast, run under the same barangay-managed no-take zone model used at several other marine sanctuaries along this stretch — swimming and snorkeling allowed, harvesting and anchoring not. That management is largely why the coral here has stayed intact enough to draw repeat snorkeling trips rather than a one-time stop: healthy reef structure is what supports the volume and variety of fish visitors actually come to see.
- Expect reef fish in real numbers, plus a decent chance of sea turtles feeding along the coral shelf.
- The no-anchor, no-touch rules are enforced, not just posted — keep a horizontal float position over the coral rather than standing or grabbing for balance.
- Local guides know the sanctuary’s boundaries and its healthiest sections; hiring one also puts income back into the barangay that manages the reef.

South Cebu is the island's adventure-and-heritage coast — the Oslob whale sharks, the Kawasan canyoneering, the Moalboal sardine run, and the Spanish-colonial towns along the southern road.
