Carcar Rotunda

The Carcar Rotunda works as the town’s traffic circle and its de facto town square at once — the point where southbound travelers either turn off toward the coastal towns or stop for a reason to get out of the vehicle. It’s ringed by the kind of heritage architecture Carcar is known for province-wide: capiz-windowed ancestral houses and, a short walk off, Santa Catalina de Alejandria Church, one of the more complete Spanish-era church complexes left in southern Cebu.

  • Carcar lechon is the reason most people actually stop here — whole roasted pig, stuffed and seasoned differently from the Cebu City style most visitors already know, sold from stalls near the rotunda.
  • The heritage houses ringing the plaza and the church nearby are worth the walk even if you’re only passing through on a South Road run.
  • Stalls around the rotunda sell native delicacies — ampao (puffed rice bars) and bocarillo (coconut-and-sugar candy) — alongside the chicharon Carcar is better known for.
