The Camotes Cave Circuit is an inland eco-exploration route through the limestone cave systems of the Camotes Islands, a volcanic island group in the Camotes Sea off the northeast coast of mainland Cebu, comprising four main islands (Pacijan, Poro, Tulang, and Ponson).

Bukilat Cave and Timubo Cave are the anchor sites — both feature natural cavern pools where visitors can trek down and swim in cool, hidden freshwater basins carved into the islands’ limestone interior. The circuit is frequently paired with the nearby coastal rock formations of Boho Rock and, where an overnight stay allows, with Lake Danao — the largest freshwater lake in the Visayas, located on Pacijan Island.

Navigating between the two main landmasses of Pacijan and Poro is straightforward, as they are physically connected by a dam.

The Camotes are reached by ferry, most commonly from Danao City on mainland Cebu (a crossing of roughly an hour and a half) or from Consuelo, Poro, the islands’ main port town. Cave tours here run informally through local guides stationed at each site rather than as a fixed operator package — visitors typically pay a small per-head entrance and guide fee on arrival, with swim gear and a change of clothes the only real preparation needed for the pool at the bottom of each cave.
