Siquijor is a small island province in the Central Visayas, located south of Cebu and Bohol and east of Negros Oriental. It is accessible primarily by ferry from Dumaguete (Negros Oriental) or Tagbilaran (Bohol). Historically called Isla del Fuego (Island of Fire) by the Spanish due to the glow of fireflies in the molave trees, the island maintains a strong cultural association with traditional folk healing. It has become a significant travel draw for its relatively quiet beaches (San Juan), waterfalls (Cambugahay), and old coral-stone churches (Lazi). Reference stub.
