Negros is the fourth-largest island in the Philippines at approximately 13,328 km², with a central mountain spine (Canlaon Volcano, 2,465 m, the highest point in the Visayas) dividing its two provinces: Negros Occidental (western coast, facing the Panay Gulf) in the Western Visayas administrative region, and Negros Oriental (eastern coast, facing the Cebu Strait) in Central Visayas. This administrative split means the island straddles two regions, which matters for transport and affiliate routing.
Negros Oriental is the side most relevant to Cebu and Bohol travellers: the Santander–Sibulan ferry crossing (Cebu’s southern tip to Dumaguete, ~25 minutes) is among the shortest inter-province crossings in the Visayas, and Dumaguete — a university and retirement city with a notably relaxed pace — is the base for Apo Island dives and Oslob whale-shark connections from the Negros side. This entity is a reference stub; Negros Oriental content will expand as ct/bp scope develops.
