Luzon is the northernmost and largest of the Philippines’ three major island groups, covering approximately 109,964 km² and accounting for more than half the country’s population. Metro Manila (the National Capital Region) sits at its southwestern end; the Cordillera highlands run down the spine of the northern third; the Central Luzon plain between the mountain ranges is the country’s rice bowl; and the Bicol peninsula extends to a narrow southern point capped by Mayon Volcano. Palawan, while administratively part of the MIMAROPA region, is geographically a separate island chain to the southwest.
For the Abaka network’s current sites (Cebu, Bohol, Macau), Luzon functions primarily as an origin or transit point — NAIA is the main international hub connecting Luzon travellers to the Visayas. This entity is a reference stub; editorial content for Luzon destinations is not part of the current site scope.
