Suba-Basbas Beach

Guide to Suba-Basbas Beach in Cebu, Philippines.

Suba-Basbas sits along Lapu-Lapu City’s coastline, one of several barangay beaches on Mactan where the shoreline is sand rather than exposed reef flat — a genuine draw on an island where much of the coast is coralline shelf, not swimmable beach. It still functions as a working part of Barangay Basbas rather than a resort compound: fishing boats share the shoreline with day-trippers, and the pace runs slower than the resort strip further south on the island.

  • The sandy shoreline stays wide enough for a proper picnic or beach games, not just a narrow strip at low tide.
  • Water stays shallow and calm close to shore, reasonable for children under supervision.
  • Basic food stalls operate near the beach, but bringing your own drinks and snacks is still the more reliable option.
