San Vicente Ferrer Parish serves Bogo, the chartered city that functions as northern Cebu’s commercial center, where the coastal road network converges before continuing on to Daanbantayan and the Bantayan ferry crossings. Bogo took some of the worst damage on Cebu’s mainland when Typhoon Yolanda hit in November 2013, and the rebuilt city around the parish reflects that recovery as much as its older colonial-era footprint. The Diocese of Cebu named the church one of its 2025 Jubilee Year parishes under the “Pilgrims of Hope” program, making plenary indulgences available to visitors who complete the prescribed rites, in addition to its ordinary role as Bogo’s parish church.
