Overview
The strip itself is a public road, not a ticketed site — what’s being described under this name is the resort frontage along it, not an attraction with its own gate. Shangri-La’s house reef, a marine sanctuary close enough to shore that no diving certification is needed to see it, and Dusit Thani’s roughly 100-metre infinity pool at the strip’s eastern tip are the two features most worth planning around. Most of the strip’s resorts face east for sunrise; Dusit Thani, sitting at the point, is the exception, with a usable westward view across the Mactan Channel at sunset. Road quality and lighting along the strip were upgraded in early 2026.
Location
Punta Engaño Road, Mactan Island, Lapu-Lapu City — near Mactan Shrine, which marks the site associated with the 1521 battle where Lapu-Lapu’s forces repelled Ferdinand Magellan’s expedition, and 10,000 Roses Café.
Getting There
About 20 minutes from Mactan-Cebu International Airport by taxi or Grab; roughly 45 minutes from Cebu City via the CCLEX bridge.
Practical Info
- The road itself is free to drive; resort access requires a booking or a day-use pass.
- Day-use pass rates found and cited independently (2026, subject to change without notice — confirm with each resort before booking):
- Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa: ₱2,000 adult / ₱1,000 child (6–12) weekdays; ₱2,500 / ₱1,250 weekends
- Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort: from ₱1,950 nett (official rate), including F&B dining credit, infinity/rainforest pool access (8 AM–6 PM), and beach access (8 AM–5 PM)
- Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort: ₱2,500 adult / ₱2,000 child (6–12)
- Crimson Resort & Spa: ₱3,000 weekdays / ₱3,500 weekends, both including dining credit
- Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu: roughly ₱2,000–2,800 per person depending on weekday/weekend and lunch inclusion
- Individual resorts vary in accessibility and pet policy.
What to Expect
A resort corridor rather than a single site — the value of visiting is comparative, walking or driving the strip to see how differently each property has handled the same shoreline, from Shangri-La’s older low-rise footprint to Sheraton and The Reef’s newer builds.
Notes
The coordinates above mark the Punta Engaño barangay centroid as a representative point for the strip, not any single resort’s gate — the row spans several independently gated properties. Day-use pricing listed above is drawn from third-party rate roundups and, for Dusit Thani, the resort’s own offer page; rates change without notice, so confirm directly with each resort’s reservations team before booking.
