Mt. Manunggal Eco Adventure Park

Guide to Mt. Manunggal Eco Adventure Park in Cebu, Philippines.

Mt. Manunggal Eco Adventure Park is the managed side of the same mountain where President Ramon Magsaysay’s plane went down in March 1957 — the crash site and its memorial sit inside the park boundary, reached by the same trail network used for hiking and camping. The elevation puts the park inside Cebu’s cloud forest belt, one of the last patches of intact high-canopy forest on an island that lost most of its lowland cover generations ago. The climate shifts fast up here: clear mornings can turn to mist and drizzle within an hour, standard for Cebu’s highest interior ridges rather than a sign of bad luck.

  • The crash site memorial is a short, marked detour off the main trail — worth the ten extra minutes even for hikers focused on the summit.
  • Designated camping areas have basic clearings but no facilities; pack out everything you bring in.
  • Layer up regardless of the forecast — the ridge’s weather changes faster than lowland conditions suggest it will.

Balamban is the west-coast Cebu municipality reached by the Transcentral Highway over the island's spine — a shipbuilding town and mountain-drive day trip, light on tourism and best done from a Cebu City base.
