Hermit’s Cove sits below a limestone cliff on Aloguinsan’s coast, part of the ridge of karst terrain that runs along much of Cebu’s west coast. A wooden stairway built into the rock face is the only way down to the cove itself — a narrow strip of white sand and clear water, shielded from the open sea and quieter than Cebu’s more developed beach towns. Aloguinsan built its tourism reputation on the nearby Bojo River, where a community-run boat cruise through the mangroves has picked up national ecotourism recognition; Hermit’s Cove works well as a second stop for visitors already in town for that cruise.
- The stairway down the cliff offers ocean views at several points before reaching the sand.
- Coral reef starts close to shore, within easy swimming distance for casual snorkeling.
- Open-air cottages can be rented for the day; the setup is small-scale and cash-based, so bring enough on hand.
